The Beatles 2009 Remasters

The Beatles timeless albums were first remastered digitally and released on CD in the late’80s at that time mastering for CD was still a new art and since then a lot has been found out about how to remaster best but most important is the incredible rate in technological advance over the past 20 years.

The many forward movements in technology and all of the know how learned on how to most effectively create digital remasters have been put to use with the remastered Beatles releases of 2009. On September 9 The Beatles released both The Beatles in Stereo and The Beatles in Mono. And both of these box sets sound great. If you have not yet heard them then I recommend that you hear The Beatles remastered as soon as possible.

Which kind of Beatles remasters should a fan purchase? Well for this guy the answer was “all of them” but if you can only choose one you will probably go with the Beatles in Stereo since it includes all of their UK studio LPs and most fans really do prefer listening to the stereo mixes in comparison to the mono mixes.

The mono box set is more for hardcore Beatles lovers who want to listen for every single difference between the stereo & mono mixes (and with some songs they are quite different from each other) and for fans who want to hear the Fab Four how they originally listened to them (this obviously applies to the original fans who were there for The Beatles in person in the’60s.)

On December 8th there will be a 3rd choice: The Beatles USB Flash Drive. This USB memory stick includes The Beatles in Stereo Box Set in a little thing you can easily hold in your hand. Isn’t that cool? It contains all of their albums in two formats; better than CD quality 24bit FLAC and 320kbps mp3s.

It’s the “better than CD quality” part is what will excite the audiophiles but for casual fans it’s the mp3s that’ll be played the most.

Harold Laurence Quesenberry recommends this Beatles Online Store for all of your Beatles shopping needs. There’s plenty of other Beatles stuff available besides The Beatles Stereo & Mono Box Sets.
