Marianne and JuIiane: Profound, multilevel Ed, and memorable journal of the relation between 2 siblings, alike in some ways yet so extremely variant in others. Juliane Lampe is a feminist editor performing within the system; Marianne Sukowa is an extreme partisan alarmist. Mr. Rock & Roll: The myth of how Alan Fred “found” rock ‘n’ roll. Here, he acts with the genuine McCoy. Vintage footage of McPhatter, Lymon, Little Richard; Rough Graziano is along for joke alleviation. Cast includes Alan Freed, Little Richard, Clyde McPhatter, Frankie Lymon and the Adolescents, Brook Benton, and Lavern Baker. (86 minutes, 1957)
Blindfold: Appealing cast stumbles in film that wavers from comedy to puzzle. Dry scenes appear incongruous as Hudson involves in global espionage with a recognized scientist. Cast includes Stone Hudson, Claudia Cardinale, Jack Warden, Gentleman Stockwell, and Anne Seymour. (102 minutes, 1966)
Passenger 57: Mastermind terrorist Charles Rane has hijacked flight 163. When they terrorist make their move, passenger 57, security expert John Cutter, is in the bathroom. When he comes out, he sees the situation, remains unseen, and plots to save the flight, and it’s passengers.
Sounds Off : This sort of window-smashing comedy doesn’t ever work on film, although Bogdanovich comes closer than anyone ever has before, with the help of an able cast. Cast includes Carol Burnett, Michael Caine, Denholm Elliott, Julie Hagerty, Marilu Henner, John Ritter, and Nicollette Sheridan. (104 minutes, 1992)
Sidewalks of London: Laughton is splendid as a busier road actor, with Leigh nearly pairing him as his prot’g', who uses and neglects all in her journey for prosperity as a level megastar, a personality not different from Scarlett O’Hara. Cast includes Charles Laughton, Vivien Leigh, Rex Harrison, Tyrone Gulhrie, and Larry Adler. (84 minutes, 1938)
